This palaeographic study analyses the development of sign forms during the Early Dynastic period. It presents a series of tables of all published inscriptions, and discusses their chronology and distribution. Further chapters analyse the palaeographic developments contextually within the successive phases of the known relative Early Dynastic chronology, and investigate possible influences leading to changes in sign forms.
